An opaline glass chandelier with 12 arms made around 1870 by Antonio Salviati in Murano, in tact with original label, this chandelier was made for candles but can be wired to clients specifications using very fine translucent wire.
Salviati made chandeliers at the beginning of their production period in Venice, from 1859 together with other items, he was in many respects responsible for the revival of Murano during the mid to late 19th century.
Salviati rediscovered the making of opaline glass and adventurine glass
This chandelier is absolutely beautiful , each of the flowers are individual and the opaline glass which is bluish in tone glows . The evidence of hand made glass is all over this piece, in itself a piece of history.
